iCarnegie and Carnegie Mellon University

iCarnegie emerged from and continues its close relationship with Carnegie Mellon University and its School of Computer Science, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA.

Carnegie Mellon is considered to be one of the world's best universities for computer science education and research. It has received numerous accolades and awards for its undergraduate and graduate computer science programs, including consistent top rankings by U.S. News & World Report, MIS Week, Gourman Report, Yahoo, ComputerWorld, and many others. Carnegie Mellon operates the well-known Software Engineering Institute and receives significant research funding from the National Science Foundation as well as from the government.

iCarnegie was established in 1998 as Carnegie Technology Education (CTE) by Dr. Allan Fisher and Dr. Phil Miller, both long-standing faculty members at Carnegie Mellon. At that time, CTE was a nonprofit subsidiary of Carnegie Mellon University, Dr. Fisher was the University's Associate Dean of the School of Computer Science, and Dr. Miller was the University's Director of Introductory Programming curriculum.

Carnegie Technology Education was created to bring to the world's faculty and students an exceptional software curriculum program based on the high-quality education found at Carnegie Mellon. In 2002, the company spun off as a private, independent entity to grow the business of delivering Carnegie Mellon-powered IT education.
